Little O in Malaysia

Little O is one fancy kid! At 4 years old, she has visited two countries already – Hong Kong and Malaysia. I’m not frequent traveler, but seeing her exposed to different cultures makes me want to travel more. Once a year out of the country travel will do for now.

To see some sea animals at Aquaria

Lots of sea animals! It’s easy to go to the zoo because it’s everywhere, but aquariums are rare. I was after the sharks! Although these are not white sharks, seeing sharks close up is enough. I booked our tickets to Aquaria through Klook. I learned that the nearer your visit date to a place is, the more expensive it gets. At first it was around Php 500 per head, but I delayed booking the tickets. After three days, it was around Php 700 already. Oh well, lesson learned.

After our Aquaria tour, we went to KLCC playground. Such a huge playground! We stayed in one small spot though because the other parts were under the sun, and we couldn’t handle the heat. This is where I got our best shot of the Petronas Towers.

“Hi, I’m Little O. I’m 4 years old and my favorite color is pink.”

She introduced herself to a Chinese family in the Lego store without our prompting. I don’t know how many times she has introduced herself to different people. In another instance, she saw two young girls in adouble strollers. She went up to them and said “They’re not twins. They’re not wearing the same shirt.” I had to explain to their mom that she thought they were twins. I saw how curious she was of this family and the language they spoke, so I taught her how to approach them and ask them “Which country are you from?” The mom answered and said they were from the United Arab Emirates.

Because of these interactions I realized that her perky and social personality is not for homeschooling. So I’m letting go of this homeschooling dream I’ve had since I was in grade school. What’s important is what she wants and what will help her thrive.

I’m tired. I’m tired.

Hearing Little O complain say “I’m tired.” is rare. When I hear it from her, it usually means she’s feeling lazy, and she doesn’t want to do what I’m asking her to do. I heard say this line from her several times as we were going up the colorful staircase of Batu Caves, but even so, she was able to go up. We were all sweaty, but we conquered this steep staircase!

She’s my friend.

She always claims that every new kid she meets is her friend. Cute! When we were having our tickets printed, she told the lady at the counter that her friend was on the other side. What’s funnier is she hasn’t introduced herself to this new friend yet! When they got the chance to meet each other, she kept on singing her friend’s name as we walked through luggage check, immigration, duty free, “Safira, Safira, I really love her.”
